Jonezen (Chris Jones) is an award winning recording artist raised in Detroit, MI who now resides in Los Angeles, CA. After almost dying from alcoholism, Jonezen checked into rehab in early 2012, brought his recording studio, and laid the tracks for his critically acclaimed debut mixtape Live From Rehab entirely in treatment. He left treatment and went on to win the Los Angeles Music Awards in 2013 and 2014 for Hip Hop Artist and Solo Performer of the year. In 2015 he won #1 Contender at the Underground Music Awards and was nominated at the 2016 Hollywood Music In Media Awards for best Hip Hop along side artists such as Pink and Justin Timberlake.
His new single “Day Job” was released on July 12th, 2016 was trending on twitter soon after its release. The new single entered the CMJ charts at the number 2 spot and went on to chart in the top ten on numerous stations. “Day Job” has also done very well in the overseas market, playing in several countries and charting on NED Top 40 chart and reaching the #3 spot on the European Independent Music Chart.
The rapper/writer/guitarist has garnered some impressive accolades, which include press in The Source Magazine, Hip Hop Since 1987, Hip Hop Weekly, the Hype Magazine and AllHipHop.com. He has toured with Bone Thugs N Harmony, Swollen Members, Mad Child, recorded with Gucci Mane and has appeared on the cover of OvaGround Mogul Magazine. Jonezen has also had videos featured on MTV Jams, VH1, major FM radio play on stations including Power 105.1 in New York and SiriusXM.
Jonezen’s last LP release Beautiful Disaster, which dropped in April of 2016, was called “one of the most creative indie projects of 2016” by Underground HipHop Blog while his previous release, The Party Ain’t Over Vol 2 was called an “instant classic” by Swurve Radio and garnered over 100k views and downloads. Jonezen continues to expand his sound and has said that his new music is “going back to his roots” incorporating far more live production than past projects and that he wants to “push the envelope for the hip hop genre”.
