INTERVIEW: Kiiing Jones

Kansas City, Missouri has tons of talent in the rap scene, it may not be as popular as other regions but it is definitely making noise and looking to carve a lane in this game as a whole. From the streets to the conscience mind, there is music for everyone to enjoy. Today, we got the opportunity to interview Kiiing Jones. He is a rapper from KCMO, looking to spread quality music with a message worldwide. Check out our interview below.

......this guy can really rap too.

Wassup Kiiing Jones, appreciate you doing this interview. Could you introduce yourself to the readers?
Kiiing Jones , Three Eyes symbolize the conscious. Part of the WAA (We Are ART) collective.

Not to get to personal but you're a big family man, I want to thank you for being a real one and holding down your family. What does family mean to you?
Thank You. Family is the most important thing to me. Outside of all of this, that's what's most important. I sacrifice a lot for them. It's all about balance. Being able to go to the studio, do shows, and still be able to take my son to the park or making sure my wife is taken care of. It's all worth it in the end.

I agree, you definitely have to have that balance. Now lets talk more about the album, what were your inspirations behind this album?
My son is my biggest inspiration. That's why he was on the first cover. "Kiiingdom" is all about me telling a story of my trials and tribulations that are vivid enough to where when he's old enough to understand, he'll know the things I had to deal with and face to make a better life for him and my daughter. All the sacrifices.

You and frequent collaborator MaxxMarvell (who is a very dope producer by the way) have a unique chemistry, can you explain how that came about?
I first met Maxx at an Isaiah Yurking show. He seemed like a cool dude. Then Maxx was a DJ at The WAA "Young Show" Series. That was our second encounter. That was when I found out he was a producer. He introduced me to a bunch of things he did as far as production. I've been a fan ever since. I reached out to him last summer asking him if he'd be willing to do an album together. We've developed a musical chemistry. He challenges me as an artist and I challenge him as a producer/engineer . He's a great dude outside of music too. I was probably one the first people to find out when he got the engineering job at 825 Studios. I was extremely proud. He's a musical genius.

What was the hardest part about putting this album together?
The hardest part about putting the project together was finding the structure and the right people for the right songs. This album is not like anything else I've done. I'm doing some things I've never done.

What can we expect from this up coming album "Kiiingdom 2"?
I'll be singing a lot on it. Stepping out of my comfort zone. Trying new things. Challenging myself as an artist.

Do you have a favorite song off the upcoming album? And what was your favorite song off of your previous album "Kiiingdom"?
My Favorite song of the album is this song called "Spiritual Medication" . It's a song that can last for a very long time. Another one of my favorites is a song that's currently untitled featuring Solomon of the No Alternatives collective.

If you could work with 3 artist locally and 3 mainstream artist, who would you choose?
I'm not really sure, Mainstream, I know I'd love to work with Kanye West, Pharrell, Em production wise. Verse wise, I'd have to say, Royce Da 5'9, 6Lack, Dizzy Wright. Just to name a few. Locally I'd be dope to work with Tech N9ne, I fuck with  Domineko really heavy, I haven't worked with Tiny T yet so that would be cool too. It's a bunch of dope guys it's kinda hard to say off the top of my head.

You've got a show coming up on July 27th, any special surprises planned?
It's gonna be an experience! Live band, energy, etc. it's gonna be dope!

Anything else you want to add? Any shoutouts? How can we find you on social media?
First and foremost, my wife, Eboni. Thank you for supporting me through this entire process. I'd like to shout out Dub (WAA) . Y'all niggas ugly.
